In the
practice session with Raquel the other day, we were at the gym working with
theatre methods. I want to summarize here some of these activities.
The first
activity was amazing for me. We had to go to the stage and we had to tell our
name and something that characterized us. All the class clapped us when we talk
in the stage. I like so much this activity and in my opinion is a great tool
for help children to improve their self-esteem and also to lose the shyness of
speaking in public.
It was a great starting activity!
For the
second activity, we had to move around the gym taking the role of something that
we want and when the teacher say freeze all
the classroom have to stay in the site and explain what we were doing. We had
passed a good time while I developed this activity. Then we have to made a little dumb theatre in which we have to make an action and the following partner had to
make this action and add some one more. In my opinion, this activity involves progession and it helps with memory because you have to remember previous actions.
When we
finished each activity all the class talked about how can we adapts and scaffold
these activities for children. Some of them were to monitorice more the
activities and give students vocabulary scaffolding to helps them and to express
and some pictures and images to involve
the topic to the children.
Another
activity was that we had to make a conversation using the letters of the
alphabet. For example...
ME: Analysing the activity i thing is a good idea...
MARÍA: Before that well, i know that...
ME: Congratulation María for your election.
MARÍA: Date, what date is today??
ME: Extraordinary date...
etc...

Moreover, this activity is very motivating and I think that we need some scaffolding as put the letters of alphabet for the pupils can follow better the activity.
Here, you can see some videos relate with
HOW TO TEACH SPEECH AND DRAMA TO CHILDREN.
Can you tell me other ways to use theater in
class? Do you like this method? Are you going to use it?
